On the 25th of February we resume the series of events Make a Joi. On our first event we propose the screening of “Balta Albă” documentary, directed by Silviu Munteanu.
The movie follows the evolution of three generations of musicians who had, and still have an important influence, not only over Bucharest’s culture, but over Romanian culture in general.
The director presents Balta Albă neighborhood as a musical epicenter where many of the great names in Romanian music were born, raised and formed, such as Iris, Timpuri Noi, Partizan, IL-Egal, Marijuana, Maxim Belciug, Trei Parale, Avant’N’Gard, Oedip Piaf and many others.
The documentary will reveal the artist’s stories about the neighborhood, about their musical career and the socio-cultural context in which their lives are developing.
The movie discusses the coercions experienced in the ’80, the rock, jazz and hip-hop boom from the agitated period of the ’90, as well as the new musical wave of the 2000s, the documentary covering a period of almost three decades of musical evolution.
The movie will last for one hour and it will be followed by a Q&A session with the director.
Entrance fee is 10 lei, sum that will help sustain the association’s further projects.
