The first roof painted by Boemona as part of the Giants of Pantelimon community art project can now be seen from Art Tower of Pantelimon. For two months we walked around the neighborhood talking to the inhabitants, to discover which are the stories, places and buildings that are important to them. We also asked them to describe their personal relationship with Pantelimon and what the things are that differentiate this place from the others in Bucharest.

In this way we came to talk about the first electric tram in Bucharest, the demolition of the houses and the relocation in communist blocks, thermal insulation, the most romantic park in the capital, haunted buildings and robots that are hunting naughty children, women with healing powers, the impact of the “horror” stories of the outskirts upon the real estate business and many other fantastic stories from reailty.
Each story brings with it a bit of the personality and the peculiarities of the inhabitants. Together with an artist duo – Mihai Paul Comanescu and Mona Cretza aka Boemona – we have decided that for this first stage of the Giants of Pantelimon for illustrating one of the essential moments in the neighborhood transformation and evolution. It is about the story of the old houses, taverns and inns that were demolished starting in the 60’s to be replaced by the most modern neighborhood of these times.
This autumn we decided to keep Pantelimon as a source of inspiration and as a canvas for your stories and, if everything goes as planned, in the summer of 2017 we will invite you to the first edition of Giants of Pantelimon Street Art Days!
Meanwhile, take a look at your neighborhood, listen to its stories, share your experiences and, if you have some spare time, climb up the Art Tower for a little moment of inspiration.

About Make a Point
Make a Point looks back on 10 years of experience in reconverting and reinventing industrial spaces, cultural intervention, as well as starting art projects in a place where the access to culture is limited by the lack of public infrastructure. At the begginings of Make a Point association stand the rehabilitation and transformation of a former industrial space into a cultural center. A former section of a textile factory became a modern exhibition space as well as projection space, and community library. In one of our last big projects, we transformed the old water tower of the factory into an unique art installation, at the same time keeping its utility and functionality.
